Overview

The problem
Budget apps line up pie charts and lists: you know what you spent, never where the month is going. And savings come last — whatever is left, meaning nothing.
The craft
The stance is the flow: a coral delta on graphite where the paycheck splits the day it lands — the mint savings branch is served first, the envelopes drink the rest, an overflowing “unexpected” shows as a hot dotted line. No pie charts: stroke thickness IS the amount. In the pocket the river turns vertical — the paycheck falls from the top of the screen, this morning’s movement lives under the thumb.

In detail

The intent

The personal-fintech category, saturated with pie charts, retaken through a single question — “where does the month go?” — and a single visual answer: a river.

The paycheck as a river

On payday the money splits by itself: 3,450 francs come in, savings take their branch first — served first, not from leftovers — then the current divides toward the envelopes. Each arm’s thickness IS the amount: the hierarchy reads without a single number.

Overflow is visible

When the unexpected-expenses envelope overflows by 22 francs, its branch turns into a hot dotted line and the basin blushes red — no alarm, no guilt: physical information, with the top-up gesture offered beside it.

In the pocket, the river falls

At 390 px the delta becomes a waterfall: the paycheck enters at the top, savings branch off, the envelopes receive at the bottom — and the latest movement (“Café de la Gare, 08:04, −4.50”) lives in a chip under the thumb.

Scope

In development. Fictional amounts, no real banking data — a ground to show how Burin approaches a consumer finance app: data that reads like a picture.
